Warrior Hearing Center of Smithville, LLC has an opening for a part-time speech-language pathologist. Speech pathology is a new service being offered at Warrior Hearing Center, and the ideal candidate will have an interest in helping grow this service. This is a NEW part-time position, with the possibility of becoming full-time as the practice grows. A master’s in speech pathology with ASHA CCC/SLP is preferred, as well as at least one year of experience. On-site CFY supervision is not available.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently. A well-rounded individual with an interest in pediatric and adult services is preferred. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, basic computer literacy and strong customer service skills.
The estimated start date is March/April 2023; however, the start date and salary are negotiable.
Job duties may include but are not limited to:
Educate the patient and family members about speech disorders and their causes, including disabilities and traumatic events.
Order, purchase and maintain speech therapy materials and supplies.
Perform accurate and efficient speech evaluations and testing to assess the patient’s speech.
Perform speech therapy using specific therapy techniques (articulation, drills, language stimulation, patient education, etc.) to appropriately treat the speech disorder.
Provide aural rehabilitation for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Provide auditory training therapy for children with auditory processing disorders (training will be provided by the employer).
Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive or language comprehension disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder or progressive neurological disorders.
Develop treatment plans and establish therapy goals for new patients.
Complete accurate and thorough chart notes, dictation and letters to referring physicians, insurance companies and patients/families of patients in a timely manner.
Return phone calls to patients and referring physicians promptly.
Perform other related speech-pathology duties as required.
Ensure that all speech equipment is cleaned and disinfected after each use.
Document patient notes in EMR.
Warrior Hearing Center of Smithville is a privately owned audiology practice in Smithville, Missouri. It opened in April 2021, serving Smithville and the surrounding communities, including Platte City, Kearney, Plattsburg and the Kansas City Northland, and is conveniently located at the intersection of Hwy 92 and Hwy 169 in Smithville.
